RM: Yes.

V: I have a childlike innocence, I’m not weird!

——That’s what he claims. JUNGKOOK what do you think?

JK: No, he’s 100% weird (laughs).

——But, he didn’t do it consciously.

RM: This is a childish trait.

——I see. Then flipping it around, out of the 7 people who is most mature?

V: SUGA hyung!

——How is he mature?

V: Appearance wise.

——(laughs)

V: His face is most mature.

SUGA: ……

RM: SUGA hyung is about 40 years old now. Everyone please call SUGA hyung mom from now on (laughs).

JM: You’re too much, he’s actually 30 years old (laguhs).

JM: But, in my opinion, RAP MONSTER hyung looks about the same age (as SUGA) (laughs)

JH: Such a pity~.

RM: Lately my body has been very tired (laughs)

JIN: Firstly I’m first place, 2nd is SUGA, and 3rd is RAP MONSTER.

JIN: 4th, JIMIN.

JIN: (considers for a while) It’s all the same after.

——So you’re saying, V and J-HOPE and JUNGKOOK are the most childish.

JK: I’m originally the youngest, V also thinks he’s the most childish, so we’re both good.

SUGA: J-HOPE will usually have a childish air, but as soon as he steps on stage, when he starts dancing or rapping he’ll transform into a cool mature man!

JK: I think it’s SUGA hyung. Because SUGA hyung doesn’t show interest in things around him.

SUGA: It’s not that I don’t have interest, if I care about something I’ll keep worrying about it, and it becomes pressuring, so I tell myself, “Just don’t care about it.” Before, I read an article titled “If you don’t care about what others think of you, you’ll be happy,” from then on, not caring about what other people around me thought, I decided to follow my own beliefs. JK: I am the most passionate man! Really!

SUGA: There was a time where he loved guitar, but after learning for three days he gave up.

JK: No. I’m distracted easily. This is the way to show passion!

Vol.1 How did BTS come together!? The road before debut……

After debuting in Korea in June 2013, embracing 5 newcomer awards, the 7 boys of the hottest boy group BTS have officially debuted in Japan on July 4, 2014! Their hip hop concept full of manliness in their aggressive music have attracted a large crowd. We are going to show the beauty of each of the members’ personalities with each serialization! From the first memorable word, BTS discuss things regarding the group BTS, as well as their ambitions for their Japanese debut.

Bringing your own unique style of music——it’d be nice to be able to have fresh ideas every time

——Congratulations on your debut!

All: Thank you!! (claps)

——How did you feel when you heard you were going to debut in Japan?

SUGA: Before hearing that we were going to debut in Japan, we already started recording in Japanese, so I knew it would come sooner or later. But after really hearing about debuting in Japan I was really surprised. To be honest, it’s too fast.

JK: I was also very shocked when I heard it. I felt happy about it but at the same time, I also thought I needed to work even harder in the future. Although it wasn’t news to me, but I took a breath and let myself tense up.

——Did everyone celebrate for the Japan debut?

RM: Although we didn’t have a big party or anything, everyone discussed it thoroughly, regarding things like how we need to work hard to learn Japanese, for the Japanese congregation to understand BTS as well, and to work hard for the sake of BTS.

——In other words, you want them to once again recognize the seven of you guys’ will and association.

JM: Yes! I’m very serious. (laughs)

——That laughs makes people suspicious.

RM: If you laugh people won’t think we’re serious!

——How is it exactly?

JIMIN: (in Japanese) Sorry……(laughs).

V: This only makes peoples’ impression of us more and more……(laughs). We are, very serious!

SUGA: In terms of music we’re very serious!

J-HOPE: Everything else is just…….

All: (laugh)

——Then, in the future serializations, we will explore more things regarding everyone.

All: Understood!

——Firstly, can you tell us how BTS came to be put together?

J-HOPE: BTS, is a music group that’s made to voice the thoughts of teenagers around the age of 18. We want to stop the world from attacking teenagers with prejudice and oppression, to rightfully guard music, only making our own type of music.

RM: It’s not only the teenagers, it’s also for 20 year olds the same age as us, and embracing the self-contradictions in everyday life, we will become your spokesperson, hopefully through our music the accumulation of your thoughts and pressures will dissipate, and replenish your energy.

SUGA: Music is hip hop’s main foundation, from the different music genres, every song has a different color. If everyone could see the variety of music we produce, and bring refreshing and surprising (music) it’d be nice.

High-level practice makes us torment our bodies and minds

——I’m sure you all went through a lot of trials and difficulties to debut and go down this road, what are some difficulties you’ll never forget?

SUGA: I was a trainee for about three years, high level practice really tired me physically and mentally and I went through a lot of suffering. Not only that, every day I had to go to school and continue practicing, it was really hard back then. However, because of that period of trails, I am who I am today, to have a powerful spiritual force where I can overcome hardships no matter how big they are.

J-HOPE: Dance classes. Everyone’s breath needed to be in sync, it was a bit chaotic. But be it whether it was before or after debut, it’s all very difficult.

V: (in Japanese) I also think dance classes are most difficult. Also, although I want to work hard in with our busy schedules, when I’m exhausted it’s very hard.

JIMIN: You look very sleepy even now~ (laughs).

V: Yeah, I really am a bit, sleepy (laughs).

——So you’re saying you’ve had schedules until late at night, without rest?

V: It’s not that either, today I sleep till I was full (laughs). But, my eyes won’t open completely……ha…..(sighs)

J-HOPE: You’re not any different from usual (laughs).

RM: V’s perspective of himself is noisier than other people.

——It’s quite stoic. JIMIN is there anything in particular that has made you sad?

JIMIN: When I want to show fans a much more cooler side of me, but am unable to do it.

V: It’s exactly how I am now (bitter laugh).

SUGA: We’re not even on the stage right now, the fans can’t see you either, so it’s okay!

——JIMIN you’re very harsh on yourself.

JIMIN: I think this statement applies to everyone. Everyone doesn’t want to leave with sorrow and regret, so we have kept on improving to show a better stage (performance).

JK: I was most burdened when I had to decide on whether “to be a dancer or singer” and had a very confusing period. Because I really liked to dance at that time, and even considered going down the dancer path, now that I’m in BTS and can sing and dance, I’m truly very happy.

RM: If JUNGKOOK chose the dancer path, we’d be completely ruined (laughs). So, it’s really a relief. We are also happy.

——What about JIN?

JIN: Some of my friends went to serve in the army, and on top of that I couldn’t meet my parents often during my trainee period so I was very lonely. When we finally found out when we were going to debut, an indescribable feeling surfaced from my heart, and tears fell just like that. After the showcase ended, the members said they also had that feeling, but because I’m the oldest brother in the group, with all my might, I held back tears.

JK: Cool——! As expected of BTS’s oldest hyung!

——Lastly I’d like to ask what RAP MONSTER’s most difficult experience was?

RM: Even though this is something that happened from debut till now, I want to reveal it for the first time today.

JIMIN: Oh oh~! What is it?!

RM: I’m someone who will seriously write my lyrics, and the type of person to usually say serious words, so I often give fans and people around me trouble. Although the fact that people come to me to talk about their problems makes me happy, but, honestly speaking, I am not optimistic, so sometimes I get affected by the air of melancholy, and it makes it hard for me to bear. There were also some occurrences where unexpected and unpleasant events happened, but no matter what happens music will always be by my side, so I depend on listening to music while crying, or listen to music while laughing, that’s now I give myself a boost of strength.

JIMIN: You said it so well~!

V: As expected, you are a serious person!!

JIMIN: Yes, I’m sorry (laughs).

——Then, please write down a message for the future serialization

RM: ORICON STYLE has serialized us with the BIG BANG seniors who we’ve worshiped along with other very amazing seniors’ interviews, to be able to start our own series on ORICON STYLE is really a blessing. In the future, we will be active in Japan activities as well! Hopefully through this serialization everyone will gradually understand BTS, and like BTS. Then BTS……

——Please tell us the focus in「MISS RIGHT-Japanese Ver.-」.

JIN: This song is softer and warmer, it’s a song with a sweet aura, you can listen to it with a relaxed mood.

RM: For the people who want to love, I recommend putting 「Danger-Japanese Ver.-」and 「MISS RIGHT-Japanese Ver.-」together and repeatedly listening to it.

——「Danger-Japanese Ver.-」isn’t a “follow me!” kind of manly image, it’s more of an image where there girl has you between her hands (laughs).

RM: In 「Danger-Japanese Ver.-」after being criticized by the other party, listening to 「MISS RIGHT-Japanese Ver.-」gives you healing. After, when you feel fatigue coming, listen to「Danger-Japanese Ver.-」again to receive some excitement, and then listen to 「MISS RIGHT-Japanese Ver.-」to receive healing.

V: Not bad~! If it’s like this then the romance is perfect!

——It’s a pretty good order. So you’re saying it’s not a gradual adjustment, rather it’s  to remind yourself to not forget your original intentions.

SUGA: It’s not specifically for love, (not forgetting your original intentions) is important and applies to everything.

RM: I wrote that line.

—— So in other words, the girl described is RAP MONSTER’s ideal type?

RM: This is only to fit the song’s worldview and is modified in an exaggerated way, but I can’t say it’s my type.

——So it’s like that. Just asking, when RAP MONSTER sees a girl, which part do you look for?

V: Face (laughs).

RM: Not true! I pay more attention to their atmosphere.

JK: I pay attention to healthy beauty, if they have good (body) proportions, and if they have muscles.

RM: Are you a pervert? (laughs)

V: (Are you looking for) a six pack?

JIMIN: So you’re saying your ideal type is me?! (shows muscles)

V: I want to go with my wife, along with my children, watching the red leaves, while feeding pigeons, everyone warmly spending time together.

——It conveys a very harmonious atmosphere.

V: This is my father and mother’s true story. It’s also my ideal date, if I have the chance I want to try it.

——It’s a very wonderful story. Then what about JIN?

JIN: Maybe I’m saying what everyone yearns for in love, the one I love won’t look at anyone else, and always looking at me. I want to experience this kind of love story.

JIMIN: Then you have to work hard and not let her look anywhere else. I think love is equal, if you want them to do it that way, you have to do the same to them as well.

V: Well said~.

SUGA: In the fairy tale Cinderella and the prince get married and lived happily ever after, but that’s just a fairy tale. I want to be with someone who is reasonable, date normally, inferring a very very simple love story is fine. Also, thinking about one another’s health.

RM: I want to meet a lot of people, and receive a lot of people’s perspectives.

JIMIN: My ideal (love story) is a love story where in my life I love only one person.

——What about JUNGKOOK?

JK: I’m a lonely person, so I’m okay if I’m alone forever.

JK: I’m joking, right now I still haven’t considered things related to love. But, if I have someone I like, I will want to be with them forever.

Namjoon: After 8 months of hiatus, we came back with a full album. After having promoting the title song Danger, we came back with the follow up song called War Of Hormones.

Q. Are you guys feeling the popularity increase?

Hoseok: It would be a lie if we said we still aren’t feeling it. These days, during the performance recording the number of fans increased and they all came to support us. Whenever we see them, I received the energy to do more than I had.

Yoongi: The tracks in this album were all recorded in the States. Musically, this is an album that we had put all our efforts in. It has really been an album that had hit the market and  while preparing and promoting the album it had been loads of fun.

Q. What are you thankful for?

Taehyung: Firstly, of course, family comes first before BTS!

BTS: *Laughs in disbelief*

Namjoon: Family first, right?

Seokjin: Not only our family members but I’m thankful for the team members and we obviously can’t exclude the fans. We are really thankful to the fans for existing.

Jungkook: Without you all, we are nothing.

Hoseok: We forgot another person! Bang Sihyuk! He likes it when we mention his name.

Q. Anything you wish to achieve?

Jungkook: I really want to be acknowledge for my singing. I’ll work hard for it.

Namjoon: Finishing up our Asia Tour with a success is the most important. We were shaken to bones during the Red Bullet concert in Korea. My first wish is to be able to say that we finished the tour with a bang.

Jimin: I want to get 1st place on music shows. Please help us achieve this.

Namjoon: Out of all that we had succeed. we still have not got 1st place.

Q. What’s your charming point?

Hoseok: My most charming point has to be my bright character. I had made people laugh with my brightness and I think I could take that as a charm.

Namjoon: That was rubbish

Jimin: Though mine isn’t quite valid, but if I do have to pick one, I think the individuality my eyes brings is quite charming. People say if they look at my eyes, they feel happy,

Hoseok: When I look at your eyes I feel saggy. (word play)

Jungkook: Mine would be my thighs. Its thick and firm.

Namjoon: I could probably say my passion in music. Since, personally, I think a person that puts his all in his work and is passionate about his job is a very cool and respected man, and I suppose I had become my own preference, though I’m not quite cool myself. Probably a tiny bit.

Seokjin: Mine would probably be my shoulders. During my trainee days, the others don’t greet me with a normal hello but it was more to ‘Oh wow, your shoulders are very broad’. It was originally stressful for me but I have taken it to an advantage and it now has become my best side.

Namjoon: The greet was the start of your day.

Seokjin: Yeah. Like, ‘Your shoulders are still broad today’

Yoongi: The difference of my everyday character and the character I present on stage would probably be my charming point. I’m usually more to the laid back, almost fatigue-like image but on stage I am lively and completely different so I suppose the double sided character is the best of me.

Taehyung: The lyrics, ‘You’re perfect from head to toe’ describes me too well. Because the whole of me, everything, is perfect.

Jimin: Let’s move on~

Q. What do you want that the other members have?

Jungkook: I have something. I want Namjoon’s brains.I want to know and copy the brain of his that is full of sensible musicality.

Namjoon: I envy Jungkook’s age. He’s 18 years old!

Taehyung: I want to have Namjoon’s ratio. (??)

Seokjin: I have one too! I want Jungkook’s muscles. I exercise a lot but I am the type that does not have much muscles so I really envy his muscles.

Jimin: I don’t tell anyone about this but I envy myself. I have too many good sides of me and I seriously envy myself I could die (of envy)

Q. What has another member done that you can’t forgive?

Jimin: YOU! *points at tae* He keeps lying on my bed without taking a shower. Please wash before you get on my bed. Its infuriating. I beg you.

Taehyung: I have one. I’ll pick Jimin. He keeps touching me everywhere and I don’t think I can forgive that act.

Namjoon: Where does he touch you?

Taehyung: He strokes my head and all

Jimin: Its because you’re cute.

Q. What’s your plans for Christmas?

Namjoon: Its here already?

Yoongi: We don’t do Christmas parties among men. We would probably just eat out or maybe eat some meat.

Namjoon: A meat party!

Jungkook: We had a history. Last time, to lighten up the mood all the 7 of us went down to Garosu road and ate a cake. If you had seen us, you would think we’re so pathetic. We took a picture of it too.

Namjoon: That history is left with only a picture.

Jungkook: Yeah. We all wore black shirts…We seriously looked so pathetic.

JImin: True! We shared a cake together.

Namjoon: Only one since we didn’t have any money back then.

Q. What are your future plans? 

Namjoon: After finishing off the follow up promotions, we will continue with our Asia Tour and have concert. We will shine with our hard work so don’t be in grief.
